Testing the engine
In racing, the standards of tomorrow are created by the testing of today. No part gets into a manufacturer's catalog or onto a retailer's shelf without going through some type of testing. When a change comes about in the sport, the process that brings on the change involves testing. At the PRI show in Orlando in December 2005, there was plenty of interest in an engine sitting on a stand in the NASCAR booth. The engine was a piece that could be destined for use in the Grand National West and Busch East series if all goes well. At the point of the display, initial testing had been done, but there was more to come. The next phase of testing happened at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida...
Safety and racing
One fact, though unfortunate, that every racecar driver must face, is the fact that they are at a high risk of becoming seriously injured on the job. This is mainly because of the high-speeds attained while racing such powerful vehicles. Because of this reality, race officials, along with drivers, teams, and safety personnel, have started to look at ways of preventing said injuries. One area that has been under a great deal of improvement during the last few years looks into ways to protect a driver's back and neck. In this area alone, several safety devices have been created, many of which are now finding their way into the sport, in turn making it safer. One such device is the HANS device...
Saving money with racing cars
You can read stories about many things that encompass a complicated racing world. This story is not a feel-sorry story. It's not a put-down story. It's definitely not anything of a negative vein. Actually, it is two stories in one: the story of Norm Benning and how he has gotten the most out of his racing dollars. Benning is more than qualified to speak on the subject of squeezing racing dollars. It hasn't always been that way for him. As Norm likes to say, "I've been to the mountain." Quite obviously, he'd like to go back there. In the meantime, he's in the savings mode that got him the shot at that mountain--and that keeps him racing. Norm does his racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, arguably the...
Racing rookie class
Drivers face countless decisions throughout their racing careers. The first decision comes in getting involved in the sport. From there, many key decisions have to be made, including when to move to the next level. There are plenty of considerations, often numbering as many as the individuals considering it. Once the decision has been made, it's like starting all over. You're a rookie . . . again. A rookie driver faces a certain amount of scrutiny. There's the somewhat ego-deflating yellow bumper or other such designation that this driver is different from the rest. In many cases, that rookie could have as much experience as many without the designation, but until there's a better system, this...
Human Bio-System Vibrational Fine-Tuning of the Future
In the future people will be able to buy beds which will look similar to a tanning bed sandwich situation. In this special bed they will have a human Biosystem vibrational fine tuning machine that will be custom tailored to their specific DNA and anything that is not running at optimum. The vibrational fine tuning will allow the body to talk to itself and the cells to do their job and this will immediately boost the immune system while the person is sleeping. Will this be one of the technologies that Ray Kurzweil cites in his books and articles on how human beings will be able to land a healthy life to the age of 600 years? Why not? The vibrational fine tuning and helping of the body to do its job...

The GMC Collectible Motor Home
In the 1970's, General Motors entered the RV market. Drawing on the exuberance of the times, the company set out to create the ultimate American Motor home.Their aim was to produce a top-of the-line vehicle with cutting-edge design and construction, not just another competitor in the already crowded vacation vehicle market. The common design in this era was a boxy, ungainly and top-heavy unit on a truck chassis. The GMC vehicle was intended to be a completely new design in every way.Design work began in 1970, with the market introduction planned for 1973. Don't Let High Ticket Prices Keep You From Seeing The "Big" Games In Person
Have you ever dreamed about seeing a big sports event like the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, or Daytona 500 in person? If so, what kept you from realizing your dream? Before you answer that one, let me demonstrate how the typical fan tries to buy tickets. I'll use the Indianapolis 500 as an example. As I write this the "Greatest Spectacle In Racing" is a few weeks away.Since many fans don't start thinking about tickets until weeks, or months, before the event, it's very possible some are just now deciding they want to see this race.Even at this late date, there are still a few tickets available directly from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but rest assured the choice seats are long...
Stock Car Insider - June 5th Issue
Upcoming Events in the World of NASCARNext week, the NASCAR Nextel Cup teams head to the "Tro-Val", as Darrell Waltrip affectionately refers to Pocono Raceway, for the Pocono 500. Pocono is always a challenging track that offers amazing racing. It boasts 3 straightaways, including the longest in NASCAR, with 3 sharp, road course like turns.Like the Coca-Cola 600 of 2 weeks ago, the Pocono 500 is particularly stressful on the engines and transmissions. Drivers have to down shift going into the sharp, flat turns. Often times, drivers will use down-shifting to help brake and lose the enormous speeds they carry coming off the long straightaways. This creates more stress on the transmissions thus causing...

Wheels for Racers
No matter how much you care for your wheels, the climate and road status can contribute to the performance of your wheels. Nonetheless, these two factors are inevitable and beyond your control. So the challenge is to maintain excellent performing racing wheels. Keeping the wheels clean is the general rule. Regardless of the type of car - be it a sedan or a race car - or wheels - be it American racing wheels or any other brands, cleanliness is a must. During your weekly car wash, use a soft brush, soap and/or mild degreaser or spray-on wheel cleaner to clean the wheels. And maintaining this means not permitting contaminants to accumulate and stay on the surfaces of the wheels. Regular cleaning is...

Daytona 500: The Chevy Chase
The qualification procedures may be arcane, Speed Weeks may take too long, and the kvetching about restrictor plates may make the Smokeless Set's drivers sound like Oprah Winfrey bitching out James Frey ("How could you lie to me? I'm Oprah"). But once Sunday afternoon comes, NASCAR nation is set to be completely psyched once again, and so am I.They call Nextel Cup's the shortest offseason in sports, but the truth is that Homestead (November's final race) seems like a long time ago. I mean, gosh, way back then, the Pittsburgh Steelers were just a glimmer in Bill Cowher's eye, Louisville looked like it was going to field a darned good college basketball team, and Dick Cheney had shot as many people in...

Bill Gates, Virtual Reality, and Six Flags
Does bill Gates know something we do not know about Six Flags amusement parks? No probably not, but anyone as smart as he, certainly understands the future of Virtual Reality. Look at the new X-Box 360-degree system? Obviously Microsoft gets it and their research teams may have entered the Virtual Reality Realm a little late, but they certainly understand gaming. Mr. Gate's increased his holding in the company from 8% to 10%. There can only be one reason in my opinion, Virtual Reality is coming to a theme park near you. This probably makes a bit of sense and also a rebounding economy tends to really bolster Theme Parks. In GA actually in Six Flags over Georgia, where actually they are still...

Assess Life!
Assess? The Sufis believe you must evaluate one's ability for knowledge. The Masons follow an initiatory process towards truth. Oxford teaches a process to evaluate ones learning style for linguistics to develop a style of interpreting a language to people so they may learn. But the Sufi's go far enough back to actual teach you how to learn, with always the knowledge that there is still is much more for them to teach. How is one to live by the golden rule if they did not learn how to develop self esteem for themselves? How do you love another if you do not know how to love yourself? How are you to answer someone when they ask you what you want if no one ever taught you how to express your opinions...

Classic Car Fine Art: Not Just Another Pretty Car
In the musty halls of Fine Art and the critics, gallery owners and collectors who walk them, there can often be felt a barely disguised disdain for the art of the classic automobile.Within the large population of Automotive Artists, especially in North America and Britain, it has been difficult to find acceptance by the mainstream art community. Perhaps many of the artists involved create illustrative portraits of cars in styles that support auto racing fan merchandize more than what is considered fine art. Some fit more easily into the areas of recreation, muscle car, motor sport, NASCAR racing, or other thematic visual art. As such, these gifted stylists and their work are...

A Look At Some Of The Newer Lines Of Collectible Cars
For all of those who retire to the television for hours at a time to gaze at colorful machines whizzing around an asphalt track, the idea of taking a front seat to the action is quite enticing. However, for most this is just a childhood or even grown up fantasy which is unlikely to result in the shifting of gears and pit stops to frantically change smoky tires. For some, there may be a way to quench, or at least wet, the thirst for first hand NASCAR excitement: diecast cars.In today's modern market of video games and computer overuse, there is a concept being revived in popular culture: the collectible car. The History of Racing and Off Road Go Carts
What started out as a way for airmen in the 1950s to pass the time has turned into a popular worldwide sport for many. Go carts have quickly become a phenomenon all over the globe. With most historians giving Art Ingels the credit for inventing the go cart, he built his very first one back in 1956. But that first go cart was nothing compared to the models we have today. Newer more modern go carts can now travel 160 mph or faster. Now that's amazing. This miniature Formula One racing machine is referred to by a lot of names including go carts, go karts, go-carts, shifter carts, gocarts, gokarts, enduro carts, and a number of other ways. General Motors Corp (GM) chairman Richard Wagoner has reportedly told shareholders at the company's annual meeting recently that GM is serious about speeding up development of the new technology needed for the electrified Chevrolet Volt. GM has previously announced building the Chevrolet Volt in 2010. The concept version of the car features a maximum range with a full tank of gas and charged batteries of 640 miles. Collecting Diecast Vehicles Is A Fun Hobby For Folks Of All Ages
Almost everyone has played with diecast vehicles when they were a young child. When I went to grade school my friends and I collected ' Hot Wheels ' cars. We would make race tracks and construction zones in the dirt piles out back of our school and play with the vehicles at recess time. I remember having a holder that looked like a suitcase only smaller, it would open and inside I had probably 20 different vehicles, ranging from cars, to trucks and a few other things. We would play in the dirt with our diecast vehicles, racing them, or pretending we were construction crews, and we would dig tunnels in the dirt, and make hills and bridges to push are little cars and trucks around on. Probably most...

There is a better way.Start by looking online. There are junk yards that have the parts you need. And just because they are referred to as junkyards...
Thinking Games
Classic thinking games are a great way to tune up your brain. You can use these mind games to help you increase your brain power and to get you out of your thinking "ruts."
