Cale Yarborough was born in Timmonsville, SC near Darlington Raceway. He attended his first Southern 500 in 1950 as a spectator. That was the beginning of his love for racing. As a part of AAA Foundation's campaign to reduce vehicle accidents involving teen drivers ages 15 to 20, David Ragan, one of the youngest drivers in NASCAR is working in conjunction with AAA to educate teen drivers about the significance of safe driving as well as car maintenance inspection. Tim Flock was a pedal to the medal, no holding back driver of the 1950's. He had lightning reflexes and was sometimes compared to "Fireball Roberts". He won over 21% of the 189 races he entered on all tracks. He had two brothers, Bob and Fonty who also raced but tried to steer him away from getting involved in racing.
