One Labonte, Two Labontes At Petty Enterprises
We previously reported that Bobby Labonte would leave Petty Enterprises to join Richard Childress Racing as that organization's fourth driver in 2009. Nothing has changed, but it looks like the 2000 Cup series champion will stay put according to Petty official Robbie Loomis. Labonte is expected to announce his future plans in early June. Terry Labonte, a two-time Cup series champion, will join Bobby at Petty Enterprises next month and drive the No. 45 Dodge in at least three races in '08. I discussed that development in March stating that Petty had prior discussions with Terry and would probably use him in road course events (the Infineon race is June 22). The two siblings were teammates once before...
I Used to Love Nascar - But not Any More
What, in the name of Richard Petty, is happening to my NASCAR? I want to fall in love again. I want to get that feeling back-like an old relationship that fizzled and you're still trying to figure out the classic WWW question...What Went Wrong? Let's go back to the good old days-the year 2001. NASCAR was popular but only to a certain demographic-the good old boys of the South. Dale Earnhardt Sr. died in the first race of 2001-the Daytona 500. Ironically, his death struck a chord with fans and non-fans alike;suddenly NASCAR reached a new level and elevated the sport. Dale Earnhardt Jr. became the icon apparent after that tragic day, not by choice but by birthright. This unfortunate moment in time...
Try Daytona Beach in 2010 for Biker Festivals, Auto Racing and a Break from the Cold Weather
When I think of Daytona Beach several things come to mind. I remember hanging out on the beach during the day getting ‘the perfect tan’ then going back to the room to freshen up, out to dinner and then clubbing all night. I really enjoyed meeting all the people from all over the country there to party and have a good time. The Main Street pier is reminiscent of the Coney Island style pier, all our friends from the North East can appreciate. They have several restaurants with fare including ‘by the slice pizza’ hot dogs, corn dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, you know, all the junk food one would associate with a good time. They have a midway will all the games and prizes you’d imagine plus some...
Chevrolet's Domination To Be Challenged
At the ongoing Nextel Cup Series, Chevrolets have been dominating by winning thirteen out of the fourteen point races so far. This domination is what Ford, Dodge and Toyota are planning to challenge at the upcoming Citizens Bank 400 which is scheduled to take place on the 17th of this month at the Michigan International Speedway. While the speedway will be held at the hotbed of the Big Three, so far, Chevrolet cars remain to be the only car to beat this season. Aside from winning all but one race this season, the Chevrolet Impalas have taken most of the top five finishes in all races. The domination of Chevrolet cars in this year's Nextel Cup Series is apparent in the fact that the top twelve...
NASCAR Weekly Report
NASCAR Weekly Report 5/17/09 Author: Matt Gerwitz U. S. Sports Media, Inc CONCORD, N.C. - Smoke was on fire Saturday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway for the NASACAR Sprint Cup Series' annual all-star race. Tony Stewart, whose nickname in the garage is "Smoke", won his first race as an owner-driver by passing Matt Kenseth with two laps to go. Though the all-star race is not a points race, the winner's purse over $1 million makes for some great competition and exciting racing. The winnings are sure to help the bottom line for Stewart-Haas racing which is running its inaugural season on NASCAR's senior circuit. Jeff Gordon had a very strong car, sticking to the bottom of the track most of the night...
Picking The Chase
As the season is almost at the half-way point and the cream is starting to rise to the top it's time for me to boldly pick the 12 drivers who will make The Chase this fall. Some are easy to place and some these were pretty tough. 1) Jeff Gordon - Easy pick. He's been the best all year so far. He is fast, he is consistent and he is lucky. He has four wins and five poles; he is hoping he hasn't peaked at this early stage of the season. 2) Matt Kenseth - Very consistent in 2007. Ten top 10's, nobody has more except for Gordon. He has one win (California) and will need to produce a couple if he is going to pass Gordon. 3) Jimmie Johnson - He too is consistent with his top 10's and has wins, but...
Sponsors Tough to Find for Earnhardt Ganassi and Yates
The lack of sponsorship for numerous teams in the Sprint Cup garage is further proof that NASCAR is not immune to the economic recession. It is not just a couple of small time, lower budget, field-filling teams that are encountering these difficulties. Some of NASCAR’s top organizations are experiencing sponsorship issues. As you well know, sponsors can make or break a team, or even an organization. Because expenses are so excessive, yet necessary in order to compete at this level in NASCAR, sufficient sponsorship is vital for proper funding. In other words, if you cannot find a company or group of companies to advertise on your racecar, you might as well keep the car and the crew at the shop...
Sponsorship Lawsuits Bad For Racing
On the track Jeff Gordon has weekly battles with the likes of Jimmy Johnson and Tony Stewart, but off the track there are just as heated battles going on. The sponsors of NASCAR teams keep proving over and over again that the business of racing is a dog eat dog world. The latest fray is between NASCAR itself and AT&T who by buying BellSouth and Cingular Wireless coming with has caused a U.S. District Court Judge to issue an injunction to allow Jeff Burton's #31car to wear AT&T logos and color. You see NASCAR is very protective over its exclusive sponsors, and it just so happens NASCAR's highest level of racing is brought to us by Nextel/Sprint. Nextel/Spring was nice enough to grandfather...
Discontented Stewart No Longer Top Banana at JGR
Tony Stewart's contract discussions have grabbed racing headlines since Danica-mania settled down, giving the hottest driver in NASCAR second-billing as Terrible Tony looks to the future before improving on the present. Stewart had been with Joe Gibbs Racing for nine seasons and 32 wins entering 2008, with Cup championships in '02 and '05, but the new kid appears to be taking over. Kyle Busch, Stewart's new teammate at JGR, has more than Dale Earnhardt Jr. to upstage after his brusque removal last year from Hendrick Motorsports. Busch is now JGR's flagship driver with seven total wins in '08 on a variety of tracks covering three circuits. He has hovered near the top of the standings in each series...
Racer Robby Gordon Issued NASCAR Penalties
Racer Robby Gordon and his No. 7 team have been issued NASCAR penalties as a result of rules violations at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May. The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) creates and enforces the many rules and regulations that govern racing, including the 2009 Sprint Cup Series. NASCAR stated that the date of the infraction was May 21, and the problem was identified in a standard post-race inspection of the No. 7 car. The rear axle housing was confiscated for further testing in the week following the race for further testing pending the announcement of the decision. NASCAR announced that the No. 7 car, driven and owned by racer Robby Gordon was discovered to be in...
A Closer Look at the Chevrolet Impala SS
The Chevrolet Impala SS has made its debut at the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. And of course with its launching is the unveiling of the GM Racing's all-new R07 small-block V-8 racing engine which provides a glimpse to the new direction in technology that America's most popular racing series is heading. One of the most powerful element in GM Racing's toolbox is what the automaker calls as the CFD or the Computational Fluid Dynamics which is a mathematical simulation of the airflow around a vehicle. This new CFD technology is influencing the design of both racing and production automobiles. CFD also played an important role in GM Racing's analysis and development of a racing version of the Impala SS...
Nascar's Most Popular Races
The modern racing and placed rules governed by Nascar began to become popular very quickly. Sponsorship arrived from the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. These men were searching for an outlet to market their merchandise, as they were banned from TV promotions. In 1971, the Winston Cup became the top series. In the late 1970s, numerous Nascar races began making inclined phone reportage. In 1979, the Daytona 500 race was televised across the nation. A blizzard on the eastern board of the states ensured that it was a much-watched event. The dramatic conclusion of this race, which had a fistfight between the leading race drivers, increased the popularity and the spectacular outcome of these races. The...
Nascar Brand Management and Sponsorship
Who would've thought that anyone would pay to watch other men drive around in a "circle" at high speed? Well, when you think about it, its sounds a little silly doesn't it? But when you play the high velocity, plus the cool cars, the drivers, etc, it all gets a little more exciting! Nascar which is the American version of the Formula 1 (which I personally love) is the second most watched sports ever. At any point in time during a Nascar Nextel race or a Daytona 500, there are more than 180,000 individuals who pack the stadium to watch the event. It is watched by more than 80 million people on TV alone. That's a fact! When a sport such as this is so big, the sponsors have to be even bigger! Nascar in...
Nascar And The Critique It Faces
Nascar has faced a lot of criticism for a lot of things over the last few decades. We can attribute the criticism to the popularity of Nascar. Apart from the environmental impact of Nascar which has led to criticism, there are other technical reasons as well. One of the reasons is the oval shape of most Nascar racing circuits. Driving enthusiasts have severely criticized the difficulty of these race courses when compared to the extremely difficult twisting and turning race courses of Formula 1. They say that it involves going round and round for 500 miles and nothing else. Some courses of the Formula 1 put up to 5 or 6 G's of stress on the body of the driver. This is totally absent in Nascar. But...
Driver - Owner Split Nextel Cup Championship
On June 20, 2007 at 9:09 a.m. when Ingrid Vandebosch gave birth to Ella Sofia Gordon, it put an end to the possibility of Mark Martin subbing for the new father Jeff Gordon. That also put an end to the big "what if" about a possible split championship in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. I'm talking about the drivers and owners championship. It would have been a stretch, but let's go down the "what if" road for a little bit here. First Mark Martin fills in for Jeff Gordon at Sonoma. Martin wins the race giving him and the #24 car 10 bonus points for the Chase for the Cup Championship. Plus that would put Martin back into the seat of a race car one of the races he was scheduled to sit out. With Mark...
How To Bet At Nascar Auto Racing
auto racing is currently the fastest growing spectator sport in the world. A NASCAR Nextel Cup event can draw over 200,000 NASCAR fans for a single race. With NASCAR’s explosion in popularity more people are looking for ways they can make money on NASCAR racing. Many people are finding there is money to be made in placing NASCAR bets. Betting online on NASCAR can be extremely lucrative if you know what you are doing. Now this is fine if you’re just trying to have some fun and get lucky when you're a planning to place bet at online sports betting, but if you're trying to win money then you need to do your homework. In NASCAR there are numerous bets you can make on every race, but one...
NASCAR Cup Round-Up
Californian Jimmie Johnson made NASCAR history by becoming only the second driver to win three consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (2007 - 2008). The 33 year old has dominated the second most popular and the second richest motorsport after Formula One, claiming 42 race wins in his career. Johnson is part of the highly successful Hendrick Motorsports team and he and his trusty Lowe's Chevrolet Impala had to wait patiently until the tenth race of the season, the Subway Fresh Fit 500, to claim his maiden victory of the year. It appears he only found his fighting form in the latter part of the year when it really counted. He claimed three of the ten 2008 'Chase for the Championship' events, putting him...
NASCAR's David Ragan - From Boy to Superstar
To quote NEXTEL Cup driver Robert Pressley, a family friend of the Ragan family "It's like there's a blood line down here with the Ragans and racing. They're good. And whether you're in Legends, or Busch, or NEXTEL cup, they take everything serious and that's exactly right. If you take it serious, you're going to be successful." David, son of famed Ken Ragan, was born on December 24, 1985 in Unadilla, Georgia. The 6's father is a former Winston Cup journeyman so it does not faze NASCAR enthusiasts that the younger Ragan has the same fire for racing as his father. Ragan is currently the director of 600 Racing and was a former NEXTEL Cup driver. During his career, Ken Ragan, made 50 Cup starts from...
NASCAR just finished a night of incredibly racing with its All-Star event at the Lowes Motor Speedway. Even the most cynical of racing fans had to enjoy the wild driving in that one. Still, a cloud hangs over NASCAR in the form of GM and Chrysler. The future of NASCAR is tied up in the future of GM and Chrysler. Chrysler has already filed for bankruptcy protection. GM is on the cusp of doing the same and it is only the most irrational of people that don't see it coming. Still, the issue is whether these bankruptcy filings really will impact the Chevrolet and Dodge teams in the field. The picture is hazy, but starting to come into focus. The good news is Chrysler has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy...
IndyCar racing is done on both road courses and oval tracks throughout the season, and typically drivers are stronger suited in one versus the other. For Danica Patrick, it's all about the oval course. The Andretti Autosport driver has made it clear she's out to conquer the entire racing league – oval courses and otherwise – but so far this season she hasn't quite hit her mark. Patrick's foray into the wide world of NASCAR early this year hasn't yet yielded much success, and neither has the start of her 2010 IndyCar season. Patrick hasn't placed better than seventh in any of the IRL's first four races of the season this year, with her seventh place finish at St. Pete standing as her only Top 10...
Team Penske is home to the reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves, and if this IndyCar team has any say in the 2010 Indy race, they'll post back-to-back Indianapolis 500 victories. Team Penske, which includes Castroneves, Will Power and Ryan Briscoe, is the only team on the IRL circuit to host a winner for the 2010 season after the first three races (Sao Paulo, St. Pete and Birmingham), and other teams on the racing circuit have to step things up if they want to give Penske some competition going into Indy 500 month. As of the start to the 2010 IndyCar season, Aussie native Will Power is the driver to beat. Power won the first two races in Sao Paulo and St. Pete and even took the pole...
Stevenson Competes In Young Guns Race
Pocahontas Resident Drives Late Model For First Time It's been a good 12 months for young Trista Stevenson. The 14-year-old daughter of Kenny and Gayle Stevenson of Pocahontas, Trista has been flinging dirt all over her competitors on the race track. In her first season in a full-bodied race car, Stevenson picked up a total of 20 top 10 finishes, seven top five finishes and one feature victory to go along with six heat race wins and two dash victories at Highland Speedway, Fayette County Speedway and Tri-City Speedway. In her debut at Highland Speedway, she finished first in her heat and dash and 10th in the feature. To recognize her success, St. Louis Motor Racing News and named Stevenson their...
Gas RC Cars - Cheap Way To Enjoy Racing Thrills
For long time race car enthusiasts, it is wishful thinking to own a race car. Due to the prohibitive costs, most fans of racing events can just watch jealously from a distance. All they can do is wonder when such an exhilarating experience of racing high-end models of Porsches, Volvos, BMWs or Mercedes will come their way. For most people it is a distant dream, simply because they cannot afford these fully-geared top end models of race cars. However, there is an alternative to satisfy the cravings of such racing enthusiasts, and that too at a minimal expense. Seems unbelievable doesn't it? After all, we are talking about those classy race cars that cost several thousand dollars. But, in reality...
Larry Foyt
Ah NASCAR, NASCAR is the most watched sport known to man it even trumps football. Yep there are more people that tune in on TV or are physically at these tracks to watch the race than any other event including even when President Barack Obama is on TV! That is a true and amazing thought, the only single thing that could even be better than being a fan, is being someone like my self that happens to be blessed to be part of the actual Sponsorship of the team. I am so blessed, and so excited! The very large part of this #56 Monte Carlo SS and the #74 Dodge Craftsman Truck 2009 race team is the driver who just happens to be a man by the name of Larry Foyt son of the legend Indi-Car driver AJ Foyt...
History Of NASCAR
NASCAR is an acronym and it stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. NASCAR was founded in 1948 by William France and Ed Otto. These two men realized that people enjoyed watching car races and that there was need to standardize the racing industry. Their idea was to attract more racers and to make the races equal for all the drivers. The thought was an excellent one because more racers meant an increase in the number of fans who would be willing to pay to watch their favorite drivers. In the initial years cars racing at NASCAR were stock cars. Stock cars are those cars that are exactly as the manufacturers release them. These cars have had no modifications or changes. However...
NASCAR Vs the Import Tuners
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is the premier sanctioning organization for motorsports in America. The three largest racing series it oversees are the NEXTEL Cup, the Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, but it also oversees NASCAR Regional Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour and the Whelen All-American Series. In fact, all told NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 38 states, Canada and Mexico. After its birth in February 1949 as a regional entertainment promoter in the South, NASCAR grew to become the second most popular pro sport in terms of television ratings in the U.S. Today it is outpaced only by the National Football League. NASCAR sponsors...
Early History Of NASCAR
Shortly after the invention of the automobile, Americans fell in love with car racing. Europe started the tradition of setting speed records, but starting in the 1920s America started setting many of these speed records. In fact, most of these world records were being set in Daytona Beach. That's right, even in the early days car racing centered around Daytona Beach. Racing fans from all over the United States and the rest of the world started coming to Daytona Beach to watch the Daytona Beach road course. For those of you who don't know you NASCAR, the Daytona 500 is the biggest race in NASCAR today. As many know, stock car racing spawned out of America's Prohibition period. The bootleggers...

Richard Childress Racing: 2010 NASCAR Season
After a rather tough racing season in 2009, Richard Childress Racing has jumped back into the fray with a bang in 2010 by downsizing to three cars and concentrating all its resources on a leaner, more focused team this year. The results emerging so far are positive and heartening for RCR fans. Putting speculations to rest, RCR went on to renew No.29 driver, Kevin Harvick. Harvick had spiraled downwards last season when his average finish dipped by 7.5 positions. However, he started the 2010 season on a powerful note, leading the Daytona shootout in Feb, and proved it wasn't a fluke by winning once again at the Talladega Superspeedway on 25th April. He's the score leader at the moment and has high...

For those of you wondering, Nascar stands for the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. There are many popular races that are put on by Nascar. There are more than 1500 races that are sanctioned by Nascar with the Nextel cup, Busch series, and the Craftsman series being the most common ones. The History It all began in the early days of the 19th century, when Daytona Beach became the setting for speed and racing cars. It had quickly become the...

"To form a relationship with a company that shares many of the core values that our organization is based on, is a tremendous accomplishment, and we couldn't be happier." The partnership with Alliance Motorsports is the first...
A History of the Indianapolis 500 Owners
There are only three sports, bull fighting, motor racing, and mountain climbing; everything else is just a game. While historians may argue whether this famous quote should be attributed to author, Earnest Hemingway or his contemporary, Barnaby Conrad, it is difficult to ignore the truth in its message. The truth is that competitors who gamble their lives to compete deserve some extra measure of respect. It is fitting that we acknowledge this very important distinction in honor of those who ante up. For more than 100 years drivers from around the world have come to Indianapolis to test themselves and their machines. There is no place on earth that gives more in triumph and takes more in tragedy than...

Daytona is the Place to Be
Daytona, the "Beach Capital of the World", is a tourist and vacation destination considered to be one of the most famous. Its white sand beaches stretches at 23 miles. Since the early 1900s when cars were first raced on the beach, Daytona was the most favorite location. It was part of history when Sir Malcom Campbell drove here the world's renowned "Blue Bird" in 1935. Today, driving on the hard packed sands of Daytona Beach Shores is only permitted 18-miles on the beach during daytime hours and speeds are only set at 10 miles per hour. Five miles of the beach are now reserved for visitors and vacationers who do not wish to share the beach with cars. More than just a popular venue for car racing...
NASCAR Legend - Geoff Bodine
Geoffrey Eli Bodine is best known for his success in NASCAR. During his 51-year career, he was involved in many forms of racing, starting with micro-midgets at the age of 5 and working his way up to Cup racing. He was famous in the Northwest for wining more modified races than any other driver and is named in the Guinness Book of World Records with "Most wins in one season". Geoff is the oldest of three brothers who have all been racecar drivers. He was born into a family with a passion for racing. His dad and grandfather built Chemung Speedrome in New York soon after Geoff was born and it didn't take long for him to develop his racing skills at this track. About the age of 30, he made his first...
Nascar – the Driver’s Physical Conditioning
So does NASCAR driver physical conditioning matter? Some would debate that NASCAR drivers are not athletes but one must consider the conditions inside of a NASCAR stock car race vehicle. The interiors of these cars are not designed for driver comfort with air conditioning and surround sound. Everything about a NASCAR stock car is focused on speed—not on comfort. So NASCAR driver physical conditioning must be such that it builds a driver’s endurance to withstand some harsh conditions and G-forces. And, the NASCAR driver physical conditioning is very similar to athletes in other sports except different areas are built up. The temperatures in the driver’s cockpit of a NASCAR race car can reach...

Nascar – the Drivers Training
So maybe you are fascinated with NASCAR and would like to choose this as a career. How does one go about participating in race driver training so as to become a driver? There are drivers training schools but all are very expensive and there is no guarantee that you will become a real NASCAR driver. So what kind of training makes a professional driver? Well, just as in other professional sports, the competition to be a driver is very tough. But more than that, the majority of people don’t get there because of a lack of driver training. It usually is because of who they know, who their family is, and where they started. These drivers start when they are very young and run the go cart circuits. Their...
The NASCAR Championships-Craftsman, Nationwide and Sprint
NASCAR is a competition and has its own set of championship series just as the World Series in Major League Baseball or the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the National Hockey League. Probably the most famous NASCAR championship series is the Sprint Cup Series. Note that the Cup Series will become the Sprint Cup Series because of the merger of the Sprint Corporation and NEXTEL Communications. The history of the Sprint Cup Series began as the Strictly Stock Series in 1949, the Grand National Series between 1950 and 1971, and the Winston Cup Series between 1972 and 2003. Innovators of the Sprint Cup Series have made it so that drivers can score more points and even get 5 bonus points any time they take the...
Private Jets No Luxury For NASCAR Teams
Business travel can be a grind, But for NASCAR drivers and race teams who are on the road for 36 races per year travel is unavoidable. If these teams had to rely on commercial airline schedules travel would be a nightmare, if not a logistical impossibility. That's why most of the top tier drivers own private jets, and race teams operate fleets of small aircraft to transport pit crew members and team executives to the racetrack each week. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. owns a LearJet 60, which is the top of the LearJet line, and their largest jet. It's a business jet that can seat up to 10 passengers. Thanks to the jet Earnhardt can leave his home in North Carolina and be at the racetrack in Daytona or Texas a...
Jeff Gordon - A NASCAR Superstar and Humanitarian
Granted Jeff Gordon hasn't always been one of the fans favorite drivers. He has passed the late legendary Dale Earnhardt Sr. in wins and he is still racing, much to the dismay of diehard Dale Sr. fans. Who knows how many races the man may end up winning before he decides to retire from Nascar Sprint Cup Racing. He just turned 38 this month (August 4th, 2009). The man has won 82 Cup races in his career and 4 Championships in the Nascar Series. He has had 257 top fives and 351 top ten finishes in his career so far. So far. Including a second place finish today in the race at Michigan International Speedway. Not bad for a 38 year old man. He was the first driver to win over $1 million dollars in race...

Writing For the Web Means Writing For Attention!
ENTERTAIN YOUR WEB READERS AT ALL TIMES The next time you cruise the web looking for particular information regarding any important subject matter, analyze the sites that you most enjoyed pulling that information from. Why did you enjoy that site more than the last four or five? It's usually because the copy that you read from that site's web pages moved you along at a brisk pace and entertained you while you culled the needed information from the site text. The web is such an interactive place that people tend to avoid sites that don't overflow with energy and excitement in every page. That means that you have to write like your life depends on keeping and finding new web subscribers 24 hours a day...
NASCAR Weekend Report 5/25
NASCAR Weekend Report 5/25 Author: Matt Gerwitz U. S. Sports Media, Inc CONCORD, N.C. - Lowe's Motor Speedway was the setting again this week for NASCAR's top two series, The Nationwide and the Sprint Cup, while the Camping World Truck series took the weekend off. The rain-filled Memorial Day weekend interrupted the racing schedule, cutting Saturday's race short and delaying the Coca-Cola 600 until Monday. Qualifying for both races was completed on schedule. Thursday night featured the Sprint drivers with Ryan Newman leading the way, turning a lap of 188.475 mph. The lap won him his eighth career pole at Lowe's, his fifth for the Coca-Cola 600. Kyle Bush started in the number two spot followed by...
Betting Basics for Nascar
Betting Basics for NASCAR NASCAR has become one of the hottest sports to bet, so we're here to put you on the fast track to understanding racing odds and finding the best places to wager. The two main ways of gambling on NASCAR are "Betting to Win" a race and "Matchup Betting" which pits a driver against another driver or a group of drivers. "Betting to Win" an outcome event like the Daytona 500 is the most common way to wager on a NASCAR race. Since NASCAR has multiple races over the course of a year, "Betting to Win" obviously offers numerous wagering opportunities. It is very important to note that not all the drivers in a race may be listed, so another NASCAR betting option is on the "field...
