Lawn Mower Racing
The mower racing is becoming a regular sport. Local newspapers report the results, sponsors are looking for the best racer in order to get the first position in the next local or even state race. Races draw thousands of fans due to the fact that a lot of lawnmower racing races have been scheduled from town to town. There are no purses and typically no betting in terms of mowers racing. Therefore, they have no desire for lucre, it is only a hobby to work and enjoy. We can say that it is only for the glory. Most of the machines which work in these races are long-retired ones that racers rebuild for racing. On the other hand, we must say that there exists different levels of[..]
Historic Monaco Grand Prix - Grand Prix de Monaco Historique
The first Monaco Grand Prix was held in 1929 and it is now an important part of the Formula One calendar. The race covers many of the streets Principality of Monaco. It is probably one of the most spectacular on the Formula One season being set a few metres from the Mediterranean Sea and at the foothills of the Alps. It is also very expensive and restaurant and hotel prices are adjusted accordingly for the long weekend event that is normally held in May. This is the same time as the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997 the first Historic Monaco Grand Prix (Grand Prix de Monaco Historique) was held. The idea was to hold the race the week before the main Formula One event on the same circuit,[..]
Playstation Versus the Playground!
These days I hear the word "play stations" more often than I hear play ground. I wonder how many play grounds still exist. I would have loved to take sonny out and kick a football around with him and see him huff and puff as I displayed my dribbling skills. But that is not to be, as there is no play ground miles from where I live. The only playing fields that sonny sees are ones in which sports events are shown on TV or a square, rectangular or circular digital patch he sees on the gaming console of his Play Station. That is the world he dominates, as he is the unquestioned champion of these play fields. He is in full command as he races cars, fights alien monsters, and pits himself[..]
Grandmother and Granddaughter Reunion
On the way down to reunite with my granddaughter I had time to think about all the good times we had together when she was a little girl. I hoped she had that Doll house I got for her on her 4th birthday. I understood it has been 13 years and they might have gotten rid of it, but it was a project I wanted to share with her, putting in all the furnishing in this big doll house and having something she can say her grandma and her did together. I also smiled, thinking about the time we got her a Barbie jeep for her 5th birthday and how she was tearing around the yard, her great grandpa was standing out there smiling and watching her play. All of a sudden she went right to her great grandpa[..]

The best thing with NASCAR TV live online is that you do not need to buy expensive satellite dishes or other impractical instruments or set-top boxes. Aside from your computer, there is really no other hardware left for you to buy. A simple download of a certain program will let you watch the NASCAR series religiously. You will really never miss any single episode of your well loved show again. In fact, the only thing that could make you leave this offer is having a free ticket to the actual race, any other offer below that will be inferior to what online racing television has to say. The NASCAR races for 2008 are generally termed as the Sprint Series Cup. It is pretty understandable[..]

Using On-Board Cameras For Track Days
Track days are becoming increasingly popular both for people wanting to experience high speed motoring in top of the range cars or simply for others wanting to push their own bikes and cars to the limit in a 'safe' environment. No extreme motoring experience would be complete without a DVD to demonstrate your Lewis Hamilton-like skills to family and friends. If this is a must-have for you it is worth checking out what is on offer at your track of choice before the day itself. Some tracks will allow you to take your own on board or helmet camera, others will allow you to film providing you sign a disclaimer and some have an absolute ban. There are four main scenarios: Someone at the[..]
Go Karts - Becoming a Racing Enthusiast
Imagine - ripping your torso as you hit a curve launching your sprint kart down the circuit. Pressing on the accelerator as you exercise dead-on hand-and-eye coordination determining the smartest way to turn the drift in the 21st minute of an hour-long enduro race. Or perhaps be a spectator - routing for the likes of Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher as they race neck-and-neck on the last lap. Guess what - you are breathing and witnessing (even smelling the distinctive aroma of clay dirt on the dirt track) the atmosphere that comes with go-kart racing. Developed in the 1950´s by pilots with a zest for tinkering with motorcycle engines to propel simple frames, go-karting extended[..]
2008 Top Gun Sprint Triathlon
Two new things at the 8th Annual Top Gun Sprint Triathlon First, they moved the race down to North Beach instead of by the Fort which I think was a good idea but not sure why they moved it. We have had a lot of rain lately so maybe that part of the park was still flooded. They did say they had to spend a lot of time sweeping puddles out of the transition area and off the course to get it ready for Saturday morning. Second, the swim was an out and back instead of the usual parallel shore swim. This was a great setup for the spectators because they could watch the wave starts and see the swimmers exit all in the same place. However, for the swimmers, the South to North current made it[..]

If you have ever competed in a marathon or half marathon, then you probably are aware that many of these road-race events are supported by tens, hundreds, or thousands of volunteers. If you have never volunteered, then you may not know that the insights gained from the experience can actually help you in several ways when you later run or walk a marathon or half marathon -- no matter whether it is the same event or some other event in the same city or another[..]

What Causes Ringing in Ears? Decibel Guide to Know When You Risk Tinnitus Or Hearing Loss
Noise induced hearing damage is directly related to the duration and volume of exposure to a noise. While there are drugs that cause tinnitus, exposure to loud noise causes ringing in ears and long term hearing loss. The unit used to measure sound is called a decibel. You may see it abbreviated as dB. Just think of the slightest noise you can hear. Perhaps a leaf falling gently to the ground. What could be the nosiest sound you've ever heard? For many of us it may be a firecracker, for others it may be a grenade landing close by or the roar of a NASCAR engine during a race. If you rank a jet engine to the smallest audible sound it is over one trillion times more powerful than than tiny[..]

Nextel Cup Vehicle Requirements
In NASCAR, the cars need to be stock and are sedans. The majority of the cars are American made. Chevy and ford seem to be the preferred make for NASCAR driver's. Although, recently you might have noticed an increase in Toyota vehicles as well. NASCAR does have specific requirements for the cars that enter the races. Part of the requirements are stock parts, for example, the hood and trunk are stock. Although, there can be modifications done to other parts of the vehicles, they had to say within guidelines set by NASCAR. For the most part, the only thing that is left as stock on the cars is the hood and the trunk. In the recent past it was common to notice similarities among the cars in[..]
New Stadium for the Athletics
The Oakland Athletics might announce next week they will be building a new Stadium in suburban Fremont, California. The announcement is expected to be made by the A's managing partner Lew Wolff and baseball commissioner Bud Selig next Tuesday in the Bay Area. According to the sources the team wants to acquire a 143-acre field close to the former Baylands Raceway Park and put up a privately-funded 36,000-seat ballpark that has an estimated charge of $300 million. Scanners - NASCAR Up Close and Personal
If you are one of the millions of true NASCAR fanatics who flock to the track every chance they get, sometimes it's easy to feel a bit removed from the action. A scanner can bring the pit action to you up close and personal and give you an insider's look at communications between driver and crew and what's REALLY happening out there where the action is. Here's a quick overview of NASCAR scanners and features to look for. In years past, racing enthusiasts could use scanners during races, but they were bulky and awkward to carry and set up. Today's models are head and shoulders above their predecessors: they're compact, lightweight, and fit easily into a back pocket when not in use. You[..]
NASCAR Multi Car Teams
As everyone knows team owners Roush and Childress are dominating Nascar this season. At first glance you would think that more money, better engineers and drivers would be the reason why and that is true to some extent. Right now you have to be asking yourself what else could it be? Remember back when some of the prominent teams in Nascar started adding a second car. At the time, even though Nascar was encouraging it, most people were saying 2 car teams would not work because it was just too expensive. Nascar, wanting more competitive cars at the race track every week, and realizing that there were not a lot of new car owners stepping onto the track, knew that they had to do something.[..]
Nascar Safety Accessories and Restrictions
Nascar was always criticized for the lack of safety ordinances in its races. But since 2001 after a series of accidents killed many peak drivers, including the ill-fated last-lap wreck of Dale Earnhardt, Nascar had to disengage and modify its position on this. It has now begun to bring in safety devices and accessories. The Seat The Seat has evolved over the last few years. The seat in a racing car is designed to contract and distribute the impact over a greater part of the body in case of a wreck. The rib cage is one area where the force of a crash can get centered. Another area is the shoulder. This will contract the impact and it will not get centered on one particular area, which can[..]
NASCAR Owner - NFL Star Randy Moss
When Randy Moss bought into Morgan-Dollar Racing and formed his own Craftsman Truck Series team, Randy Moss Motorsports, few people took him seriously. Like Terry Bradshaw, Randy White, Brett Favre and Roger Staubach, et al.- Joe Gibbs a lone exception - the NASCAR owner thing would be a hobby and Moss would make a go of it with limited or no success. He'd have a sizeable tax write-off when it didn't work. That's been the setting for other celebrity sports figures. Moss vows his will be different. The setup is in the beginning stages and the enterprise has yet to pan out, but if is doesn't, it won't be for lack of groundwork. Before he ventured into NASCAR, Moss sponsored a dirt track in[..]
NASCAR Pocono 500 Recap 2007
After a 3 hour rain delay Ryan Newman finally led the field to the green flag and the start of the Pocono 500. Newman was on the pole for the third straight week and was 7th fastest in happy hour. Forty two other drivers took a shot at breaking Denny Hamlin's Pocono dominance as he had won both races last year at the track. But, Hamlin had already a lot to say about it as he pulled passed Newman and led the first lap. As laps started to roll Tony Stewart joined Hamlin at the front and they began to distance themselves from the rest of the field. As the first round of green flag pit stops wound down Stewart replaced Hamlin in the led and moved Hamlin to 2nd and last weeks winner[..]
Lewis Hamilton Was Trained Using This Very Technique - Learn It
Lewis Hamilton knows that a race car is far too quick to drive at the conscious level. You must engage all your senses and pre-program responses. Get to understand your car inside and out. It is possible to do this from taking information in through all your senses. True there is no substitute for perfect driving practice. But how do you enhance that perfect driving practice? Increase your awareness of how you take in information while driving. Next time you're out on track practice this: Step 1: Drive two laps just paying attention to your auditory sense... what do you notice? The Issue of More Passing - Encouraging News in F1
Name the number one criticism of Formula One and the same answer given by just about every person - there is no passing! Off-season testing for the upcoming F1 season may be bringing some good news in this regard. F1 is nothing if it isn't a giant marketing machine. The races are seen by hundreds of millions of people world wide, so the championship knows how to market itself. Given this fact, one may wonder why a sport so marketing savvy is also devoid of much passing. Passing, after all, is the most exciting aspect of motorsports. The answer with Formula One is simple. The problem is found in the designs of the cars. The aerodynamics of the cars are so highly tuned to pin the car to[..]
Economic Downturn Continues to Impact Auto Racing
With widespread economic difficulties crippling communities all over the planet, it's very hard to find any facet of the entertainment and sporting industry that hasn't been negatively impacted in some way. The world of auto racing in particular has undoubtedly felt the crunch caused by global recession. Nearly all racing teams and events rely largely upon sponsorships from major corporations and automobile manufacturers. A majority of these companies and sponsors have drastically reduced the amount of money they are willing to throw at their racing teams as they furiously slash spending in order to remain competitive and stay in business. Declining sales have forced automobile[..]
Safety Measures Take Into Consideration While Kart Racing
In the past years go-karting was found only in local amusement centers where the rate of accidents were quite few and rare. People used to race in comparatively low speeds for fun. But with time the speed of go-karting has become quite high and thus it is advisable to follow and maintain some of the basic safety measure while going for karting. If proper safety measures are taken, then nothing can be more exhilarating than go-karting. People engage themselves in many kinds of racing like bikes, scooters, mopeds, but the most exciting among them is go-karting as it can give the satisfaction of having a formula one racing but without any hazards. Karting initially involved a speed of five[..]

Buyer Beware
They used to call it "snake oil", something of dubious value sold as a cure all for any medical condition. Nowadays, the consumer assumes that there are enough laws to protect the consumer from false advertising. However, in a highly specialized market like racing, companies can get around the "false advertising" rule by pushing the limits on what they say, but not going over the line. A good example of this are the "split" electrode spark plugs. (We are not going to use actual product names, hopefully to keep us out of court.) The claim was that you had 2 sparks to better ignite the mixture. That would be an advantage if it were true. However, the spark will jump from just 1 electrode,[..]

Torque Vs Horsepower - Which is More Important?
You've probably heard various racers and engine builders/tuners talk about torque vs HP. Some say "torque is what moves the car", others say HP is all that matters. Well, you'll have to put me in the latter camp, because HP is the most important. Torque is how much twisting force you are putting on the drive shaft, typically measured in ft lbs. Horsepower is multiplying this twisting force by RPM (how fast you can keep applying this force). If we didn't have gears, than torque would be more important. That's because in any 1 gear, the torque peak is where the car accelerates the quickest, producing the highest Gs. The torque peak can be important for launching the line, but after that HP[..]

Barbie Dolls - Over 50 Years of History and Still Going Strong
The one thing that every little girl plays with for hours on end is a Barbie doll. Just think, that when it was first thought of Mattel did not want to manufacture it! It turns out that the decision to invest in Barbie was a wise one since it is now a globally known icon with all children. Barbie has came a long way since it was designed in 1959 by Ruth Handler. Handler first saw the need for an adult doll that would allow girls to play with and dream of how it would be when they were adults. The only option at this time was to play with paper dolls. The first time that Handler took her product to the Mattel Corporation, that she was a co-founder of, she was turned down. The committee[..]
Sale of NASCAR Merchandise Soars Along With the Sports' Growth
From it's humble roots in the South, NASCAR racing has grown to almost unbelievable popularity across the entire nation in recent years. From the first races run in 1948 to the current NEXTEL Cup and Busch series, NASCAR has become arguably the number one spectator sport in America, boasting 75 million loyal fans. And, interestingly, 40% of those are women and 53% work in white-collar or skilled labor jobs. The numbers continue to be impressive; annual attendance at races is over 7 million and upwards of 275 million Americans watch on television. Those who follow the circuit attribute several factors to its' success. One of those is a formula that no other spectator sport matches.[..]
Nascar And The FX Race Technology
With the coming of engineering in the 21st century, reality television has made the front seat. As more and more proficiencies are formulated to make TV more interactional and advanced, sporting events are not left far behind. Nascar has started the race F/X technology, which has enhanced the interest further amongst TV audiences. Well, the technology was primitively started by FOX, which started trailing the hockey puck on national television. The trick was hot, and it became an instant hit. Nascar brought in a synonymous technology to track their cars. But tracking a puck on a hockey field and tracking a car moving at 200 mph on a racing circuit are two different matters entirely. In[..]
Nascar Odds: Kobalt Tools 500 - Johnson The Betting Favorite
NASCAR heads to Atlanta on Sunday at 1:00pm EST for the Kobalt Tools 500 in the fourth race of the season that can be seen on FOX with Kevin Harvick the point's leader. Harvick is not the NASCAR betting favorite in this week's race though. That honor goes to Jimmie Johnson who has won the last two weeks. Johnson is the 9-2 favorite in Kobalt Tools 500 odds at online sportsbooks while Harvick is 10-1 in NASCAR picks. Johnson is getting much of the attention but Harvick has a chance to win this week. He is the only driver to finish in the top five in both races in Atlanta last year. "We're really looking forward to Atlanta based on how we ran there [in September]," said Harvick, "It has[..]
Nascar- the Backwoods Roots
NASCAR stands for the National Stock Car Auto Racing Association. The organization itself is a conduit for many companies to market their products while giving fans of auto racing a thrilling experience. The roots of NASCAR go back to the very thing that spawned the American Revolution: a disdain for excessive taxation. Yes, NASCAR roots actually begin around the year 1794 and at the heart of the Whiskey Rebellion. The Whiskey Rebellion was spawned because the new United States Federal Government imposed a tax on farmers who distilled their extra grain so as to bring it to market as well. Back in those days, there were not sophisticated highways and rail systems to get grain to market[..]
