Dale Jr. to Leave Sr.’s Legacy
In 1996, legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. created the Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI) to compete in NASCAR-sanctioned races. In 1998, Dale Earnhardt Jr. drove the No. 8 car of the team at the NASCAR Busch Series where he won the championship for two consecutive years - 1998 and 1999. Currently Dale Jr. is racing at the 2007 Nextel Cup Series for the team that his late father started. The next season though will see Dale Junior racing for another team if he pushes through with his announced plan to leave DEI. Junior’s departure came after he failed to wrest the ownership of the team away from his stepmother Teresa Earnhardt. In a recent press conference Dale Junior announced his[..]

Lets look at it is two very different arenas. In the Professional Arena and in the Sportsman Arena. However in the professional ranks there are those who believe that a particular brand or oil, such as Valvoline, Quaker State, Mobile One, or Royal Purple, and believe that it is the best oil available and will only use that particular brand. Again remember this. Many teams use a particular type[..]

A Guide to Nascar for Redneck Women
In order to understand the culture of the redneck man, it is necessary to understand the most Southern of sports: NASCAR. It's more than just cars driving in circles at high speed, punctuated by the occasional crash; it is an integral part of the modern South. In order to really understand both, you must know where NASCAR came from and why it exists. History of NASCAR NASCAR (the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) really started back just before Prohibition, when hillbilly moonshiners up in the Appalachians found out that the revenuers' cars were fast enough to get the jump on them. Illegal stills started getting busted, and shine makers started going to jail. Instead of[..]

Who Knew There Were So Many Satellite Sports Packages?
If you're the ultimate fan and you don't have satellite TV, your true fan status just dropped down a notch or two. With cable, you don't get nearly the amount of channels. Sure, you're able to catch the big games, especially those of area teams. But, what about if you are a Washington Nationals fan living in San Francisco? There's a good chance you'll miss a great deal of the team's games. Satellite packages are the solution. If the major leagues are your thing, there're four packages that you absolutely must have. MLB teams play over 160 games each year, so it's hard to catch every single your team plays, even with local coverage. MLB Extra Innings is the only way to get closer to that[..]

Enjoying the open road on your motorcycle is a great experience. There may be times though, when you want to expand that experience by communicating with your passenger or riding partners. If that's the case then you are probably considering purchasing some form of helmet headset communicator. When you're thinking about purchasing any helmet headset kit, keep in mind that they are usually factory packaged for one helmet and do not include the communication device such as a two-way radio. Both riders or the rider and passenger will need to have headset kits installed in their helmets. That's a requirement for two (2) headset kits plus a pair of some type of two-way communication device.[..]

A spoiler is usually used for aesthetic purposes in cars. It is believed that spoilers can make your car look sportier and cooler. Few people actually know that there's more to it than just aesthetics. A Mercedes spoiler is an aerodynamic device attached to an automobile whose intended design function is to 'spoil' unfavorable air movement across a body of a car in motion. It does this by disrupting the air flow going over a car so the contact between the tire and the road surface is increased, also increasing traction as well that allows your moving vehicle to brake, turn, and accelerate with more stability. This can result in improved vehicle stability by reducing lift or decreasing[..]

The 1955 Chrysler C-300 - The Beautiful Brute
If ever a nickname was appropriate, the one writer Karl Ludvigsen came up with was perfect when he called the 1955 Chrysler C-300 the "Beautiful Brutes". This car was truly a brute in looks as well as power and was the car that really kicked off the horsepower race when it came out with the first 300 horsepower engine in a production car. The C-300 could be considered to be the first muscle car but it didn't fit the popular description of what was then called a super car. To be a super car the engine had to be the biggest one in the smallest body. The engine was the biggest by far but the body was also one of the largest, so it wasn't a super car even though it ran like one. In 1951[..]

Curlin Gets a Green Light For the Classic
The Bitter And The Sweet No race better exemplifies the dramatic influence of the Pro-Ride Track on the 2008 Breeders Cup than the CLASSIC. The connections of Curlin, the 2007 Horse of the Year and arguably the best dirt horse on the planet, strongly considered not going to Breeders Cup this year until the eleventh hour (because all the races are on either turf or synthetic tracks). That's the nature of the beast, I'm afraid, and we have to take the bitter with the sweet. The "bitter" is we will not get to see Big Brown attempt to cement Horse of the Year honors due to his untimely injury. The "sweet" is we get to see Curlin attempt to defend his Breeders Cup CLASSIC title, and we get to[..]

IS CHOPPERS ONLY FOR THE BIG GUYS?
Motorcycles have been in vogue for a long time. They are heavy machines which are rugged and heavy. Men have always liked riding motorcycles. Choppers - a type of motorcycle, has have been in existence since the end of the Second World War. Why did the choppers come into existence? Soldiers who fought in the Second World War were used to light motorcycles in Britain. They were fun to ride. They were dissatisfied Harley-Davidson, the company which manufactured heavy motorbikes. They wanted something different. They made changes by removing certain parts that were heavy and which made it look big and ugly. Fenders, front brakes, windshields and turn indicators were removed. The saddle was[..]
A Brief History of the Chopper Motorcycle
\The motorcycles military history dates back as early as 1913. In fact General John J. Pershing used a Harley Davidson motorcycle to pursue the famous Mexican bandit, Pancho Villa, in 1916. By 1917 roughly two thirds of Harley Davidson's production went to the military. World War 1 saw approximately 20,000 Harley's pressed into military service with that number rising to 90,000 in World War 2. These motorcycles played many parts in wartime, from mostly being used for communications, transportation, and limited combat to tactical assault missions in World War 2. This along with the regular wartime motor pool produced thousands of men trained as mechanics. At the end of World War 2 a large[..]
The Top Horse Racing Track Bias in the United States
In the 21st century of horse racing there is no downplaying the importance of track bias. The condition of the horse racing track and the affect weather has on it can turn a favorite into a loser and a long shot into a potential winner. If you go to Vegas and they say there is a fix on roulette and it rarely hits above 22 would you believe them? Well this actually happens at particular races in horse racing and this is called track bias. In Pilmlico in Baltimore, MD where the first turn is less than a small throw away from the starting gate in 1 1/16 mile races. Horses with sprint speed and inside post positions have a clear cut winning edge. Conversely horses forced to break from the[..]

The following tips and techniques are not by any means hidden secrets, but they are some of the most overlooked ways to market a small business today. 1. Know your target audience. As silly as it sounds, many small business owners kick off a marketing campaign without regard to whom they want to target. If you send out a coupon for NASCAR tickets to the first 1,000 people in the phone book, some will undoubtedly be thrilled and will do what's necessary to earn the tickets (akin to dropping 1,000 mailers from an airplane -- some will hit the[..]

Web Design in a World of Change
When it comes to web design one of the things I really like to see for a more hands-free experience for visitors is self-updating code. In some cases this information is free. In other instances you may have to pay something to use it or allow the information to be ad supported. Let's say for instance that you sell replica NASCAR vehicles. You might want the latest NASCAR news on your website. You can search for sources that provide the information either as scrolling text or in a side box. There are sites that can make customizable content for your website for things like recipes, news, gardening as well as music and entertainment news. Michael Waltrip Racing May Be on the Verge of Extinction
Times are tough. News reports tell us that every day. On the corporate side of NASCAR, one prominent race team is boosting its fortunes after years of decline, while another is reported to be on the downside, and sliding. Toyota-backed Michael Waltrip Racing is nearly at the end of a short rope, it seems. MWR was founded by Waltrip in 1996. As a slow start-up, it had mild forays into NASCAR before MW hooked up with Toyota in 2007. The team went through some limited partnerships, but was never 'up and running' until last year when he obtained considerable backing from the Japanese automaker. At the end of a dismal last season, the two-time Daytona 500 winner formed a 50/50 partnership[..]
What goes around comes around, the old saying goes. Kyle Busch got a taste of his own medicine at New Hampshire when, during the final yellow flag of the day, Juan Pablo Montoya drove his No. 42 Dodge into Busch's No. 18 Toyota during the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. The hard contact occurred in full view of the front grandstand along the straightaway. Montoya admits it was intentional and in retaliation for Busch's side bump of the 42 during the same caution period. Montoya's payback sent the Interstate Batteries car spinning back into Montoya's black-and-red ride. Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans are praising Montoya, no fan favorite before the incident with Busch. The former Indianapolis 500[..]
The Year's Coldest Month Isn't All Bad
Very few people look forward to February, a month that falls in the thick of winter and often leaves us feeling as if the cold weather will never end. On the positive side, there are some exciting events that should help to pass the time during this month. It's also the shortest month there is, as the 28 days should help to bring an end to February more quickly than with other months. Here are a few things that should help to make February more interesting if you can't stand the thought of this month. Keep busy with these, and you'll enjoy yourself as the time passes. First off, there are the holidays. There are a few of them, with some having more significance than others. During the[..]
Redesigning Perfection: Obsessed With The Corvette Concept Car
It all started in 1953, when the first Corvette "rolled" out of production in Flint, Michigan- An unassuming convertible was about to change the way the world dreamed. After a few years with very little change, the first major overhaul of the Corvette occurred in 1963 when design changed to resemble the more recognizable sports car styling. From this point on, fans fantasized not of what the Corvette was, but what it could be – and the obsession with the Corvette concept car began. The original Corvette Stingray concept car was designed as a non-commercial race car. The sleek look included major changes to the body to increase aerodynamics. The hood and rear were "pinched" down to to[..]
Gab Session: The First Vegas All-Star Game
In every sport, All-Star Games have long since outlived their usefulness. Need proof? Do you think the basketball world is abuzz because its constituents are thrilled to be playing the NBA All-Star Game in the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV? Does the drinking water at that venue taste particularly good there? Uh, no. The NBA is dancing in the streets because its stars and its celebrity hangers-on get to rub elbows in a city where sin is the norm. Since most of these multimillionaires already live their lives adorned by ostentatious jewelry, grotesque tattoos, $10,000 sunglasses, bottomless bottles of Kristal, and hot-and-cold running women, this just means that these guys[..]
Junior's Got Issues
It would be a might understatement to say Dale Earnhardt, Jr., had a rough Daytona 500. From losing his pit to causing a big wreck, it was a weekend to forget. Still, Junior's got other issues as well. I'll start off by saying I'm a fan of Junior. The primary reason is he is a down to earth kind of guy you could imagine drinking a beer with without any big deal. Could you really imagine doing that with Jimmie Johnson? Well, maybe a wine spritzer, but not a beer. Oh, and only if he mentioned his corporate sponsor every third word. As a Junior fan, it is easy for me to discount all the criticism he is getting for Daytona. My answer it to suggest it is just one race. The winner of Daytona[..]
NASCAR Inspections Becoming More Frequent and Complex
One reason for building the Car of Tomorrow was to cut costs; another was to simplify the inspection process. All the cars would fit to one template, and NASCAR would no longer need to adjust the fitting multiple times before each race. NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France also promised to make the rules clearer, or at least less confusing in 2008. So far, the sanctioning body's new methods are making things more difficult. Along with pre- and post-race scrutiny there are multiple penalties and fines, and suspensions are being levied nonstop, drawing media attention away from the races as never before. Last season NASCAR lowered the boom on teams that tampered with the COT in the[..]
Best Dog Track In Florida?
Daytona Beach is a great place to visit in the winter. The sun is shining, the ocean is beautiful and there's the Daytona 500 track and information center to visit. And right next to the Daytona 500, actually in the parking lot, there used to be a little old dog track. It was nice, but I always thought it was kind of a strange place to put a greyhound track. Someone else must have thought so too, because they tore it down and built a new facility about 3 miles up the road on Williamson Blvd. I was pretty excited when I heard about it, but even more interested when I read that it was going to be the first certified LEED greyhound park in the world. To be certified by LEED, you have to[..]
NASCAR Legend - Donnie Allison
Back in 1959, Donnie Allison left his home in south Florida to look for racing opportunities in the Georgia and Alabama area. He and his brother Bobby and their friend Red Farmer located in Central Alabama where they found numerous small dirt tracks and became known as The Alabama Gang. Unlike his brother Bobby, Donnie didn't grow up with a passion and desire to race. He entered the world of racing on a challenge from his brother.
